Só I started to watch Star Trek because of my husband and I have a few questions about Data (+18 talk, NSFW, so if you are under 18 leave)

So Data bangs someone on the first episode or second I don’t remember anymore, and he said he is programed in techniques and all that makes him sound like he has kamasutra books in his memory.

But I recently watched an episode (I think it was S07E01) where he gets pissed at a Borg and does all that to try to recreate emotions, including (he says to Troi) expose himself to +18 content to see if he feels something and he doenst feel nothing.

Which leads me to ask… Why all the programming if he doenst feel nothing when banging? Also, in the first episode where he bangs that woman how did it went since he can’t feel anything he just puts his pole up and she does all the riding while he just lays there? In the episode he created Lal, she sees 2 people making out and asks Guinan what’s happening and Guinan says Lal she should ask Data about it, how do you think that conversations went? Like: Dad what were those 2 people doing there? Idk, “I can’t really feel anything but the other time this girl seemed to enjoy it, just put the pole up and let her ride” Since Data is made of parts can “it” be detached? When Data cums assuming he can cum at all, does he fire nanobots or something, or nothing at all? Is the size and thickness customisable? Can he vibrate? No one ever think to give him the nickname of Sybian Soong? Since Lore is basically Data with slightly different code, does he also have a funcional pole? How interesting would it be to have a DP with both at the same time? Data was created by a man, do you think he thought Data where to find Mr. Clit?

It’s completely possible to perform all the mechanical functions of sex without feeling any pleasure or any emotions about it. Heck, I think I may have done that at some point in my life as a real human.

Data wants to be more human, but because he doesn’t have the capacity to feel emotion (without his emotion chip) he can certainly perform the activity, just not experience the emotion and pleasure.

Edit: the Borg Queen gives Data skin so he can feel physical pleasure in the Star Trek: First Contact movie. You should totally watch it if Data feeling pleasure intrigues you…

Data doesn’t have emotions, but he does form attachments, has preferences and priorities, and can view experiences as positive (preferable) and negative (not preferable). So while he doesn’t experience things the same way that we do, he can still value the experiences.

The mechanics of Little Data (Datum?) are obviously never established, but given that he breathes and grows hair, it wouldn’t surprise me if the thing couldn’t double as squirt gun / turkey baster. I’m sure Soong would have probably wanted Data to be able to father a kid the old fashioned way if he chose to. Hell, now that I think about it, the old man may have kept some samples on ice in case Data ever needed them.

Which could be seen as a way of defining the mechanics of how emotions work.

I think there are very good arguments that Data does have emotions, but they get expressed in different ways. If curiosity is considered an emotion (I’ve read competing ideas on that), then Data certainly has at least one emotion.

The Orville explicitly ran with this idea.

Remember that Lore is Data’s older brother, which shows that Soong had already figured emotions out (albeit with some significant bugs) before he built Data. Between that and the fact that he made an emotion chip for Data, it’s clear that he fully intended Data to have them, so why would he leave out any of the other hardware that used them?

Soong created a chip with the full spectrum of human emotion, put it on Lore, gave Lore no means of control said emotions, and then acts surprised when Lore goes full psycho? Dude never studied history? Why did I think people take so many anti depressants and shit? With Portugal being #1 consumer on Europe. I’d be surprised if Lore didn’t went psycho! Poor guy. And if Data ever gets emotions if he doenst go psycho is because he had time to process the world before being flooded by said emotions. Like humans do, they are born and learn to process more complex emotions as they grow up, or should … but that’s another story

Why all the programming if he doenst feel nothing when banging?

Presumably, his knowledge base includes recognizing signs and signals from his partner and how to react accordingly.

Also, in the first episode where he bangs that woman how did it went since he can’t feel anything he just puts his pole up and she does all the riding while he just lays there?

Fully functional is fully functional, not just a dead fish. Also it was with Tasha Yar in s1e3 “The Naked Now” (if the pilot is counted as 2 episodes).

The rest is likely answered by various fan fiction.

dude, have you seen this show? I know that you know better. he might make a lucky guess once in a great while and somewhat predict another person’s reaction, but he’s pretty shit at doing that. even after he gets emotions.

Some early episodes have to be taken with some leniency as the show was just starting to work out the characters and ideas. Much like a TOS fan would watch the pilot episode and see Spock very animated and even smiling at one point and just shrug it off knowing that’s not how he ends up.

Data is not (or, wasn’t during the period you’re referring to) capable of feeling human emotions– physical sensation, he can feel just fine, possibly better than humans. he was “fully functional” from a physical perspective. so, he was perfectly capable of feeling the pleasure of sexual intercourse (or any other physical sensation like hot or cold)… he just wasn’t capable of enjoying it (or not, as the case may be)

When Data finally becomes capable of feeling human emotions, well… it’s quite a journey: (also, this scene demonstrates the differences I’m describing)

If “First Contact” is cannon, not as well as humans. Þe Borg queen modifies him to enhance his physical senses to biological levels, implying a more muted base sensitivity.

You don’t need to feel emotions to understand the chemical, physical and psicological reactions during intimate moments.

A robot may know that an orgasm is a release of neurotransmitters in the brain, how you get one from stimulating certain nerves in the genital area, and the expected recations, all without every feeling one, just like you generally know how it works before you feel your first one.

You can logically understand all the procress because, at a fundamental level, it’s all physics and chemistry.

When Data banged Tasha Yar, he probably perfectly imitated a sexually-capable male, what is not clear is if he liked it or felt anything, please ore emotiom wise.

As for the borg episode you mentioned (I never saw it) if he watched porn he probably recognize all the “mechanical” actions, maybe even learns new techniques, but doesn’t feel aroused as a human would.

Stays hard the whole time, lol. Trans guys can go all night. ;)

Packers stay flaccid, what’s called “pack and play” (uncomfortably, that’s also a term for collapsible playpens) kinda fold down so you can pack with them and adjust them to be fully functional, but you’ve got all the problems of being a shower rather than a grower with those and they’re kinda in the way for daily wear. Most of the more gimmicky ones are bedroom use only but swapping for the bedroom is practical for other reasons.
